The Garden of the Ceccarini Kindergarten hosts a moment of study and testimony, contributing to give unity and breath to a particularly significant day for public memory. It is in this context that the civil oration that Gad Lerner dedicates to 25 April fits in: a reflection that, in the year of the 80th anniversary of the Republic, takes on an even more intense value, interweaving historical memory and present-day responsibilities.

Indeed, the Resistance marks the beginning of a new season in Italian history, leading to the end of the fascist state and the birth of republican democracy. Starting with the publishing and documentary project 'We, Partisans. Memorial of the Italian Resistance", realised with Laura Gnocchi in collaboration with the ANPI, Lerner gives voice to the experiences of women and men who, during the war years, chose to fight for freedom, restoring to memory its living and shared character.

Gad Lerner is one of the most authoritative journalists and authors on the Italian scene, capable of interweaving chronicle, memory and political analysis. In his works he deals with the knots of Jewish identity, migration and social transformations in contemporary Italy. He has worked in the main Italian newspapers as a correspondent or in an editorial role, has conceived and conducted various television news programmes for RAI, La7 and Laeffe and was director of Tg1. Today he writes for 'il Manifesto'.
